Just combed through Jill Stein's "Power to the People Plan." I more than agree with every single one of her positions, every single word. From her "Green New Deal" to her demand for "Racial Justice Now" to her "Expand women’s rights, protect LGBTQIA+ people from discrimination, defend indigenous rights and lands, and create a welcoming path to citizenship for immigrants," I agree... And I'm voting for Hillary so that someone like Jill can be president some day -- someone I wholeheartedly believe in. I know mine is a lousy position and I wish our version of "democracy" allowed us to vote our beliefs. I sure as hell would like to make a stand right now. There are moments when I'm like, "Fuck it, let the country suck on four years of Donald's exhaust." But the possibility of a President Trump is too dangerous in almost every conceivable way and I want, no, NEED to believe in a President Hillary Clinton... for now.
In any other time, Jill Stein.

ReplyDeleteI could have written that myself Brian, except that you're a better writer.... Much as I love the Stein platform I joined the Green Party and tried to get involved, even got myself elected to the state committee. (believe me they were so desparate for women they would have taken anybody) It's just a sad mess with a bunch of people who are either clueless or just seeking a seat at the political table. I really don't mean to trash any one individual but as a group they are a wash! There are staggering opportunities for a third party to ascend but if it's the Greens its only going to happen if say the disenfrachised Bernistas stage a takeover. But on to your second point. I and many others are just not looking forward to holding our noses and voting for Hillary. But what else can I do? I cant not vote, I'm the descendant of suffragettes, not voting would disrespect my ancestors! It's really depressing.
